The executive board director Christian Züchner of the German society for muscle disease patients  ‘Deutsche Gesellschaft für Muskelkranke e.V.’ (DGM) invited Peter Claus and Nora Detering as guest speakers to the DGM general meeting of lower saxony at the center for adult education, Stephansstift in Hannover. The current demands and political goals for inclusion of people with limited mobility were presented by Annetraud Grote, lower saxony commissioner (‘Landesbeauftragte’) for people with disabilities, and Konstantin Grosch, member of the DGM Federal Board and the lower saxony state parliament (‘Niedersächs. Landtag’). Those hot topics were complemented by the talk of Nora Detering about current research in neuromuscular diseases, emphasizing the need for research in the field of rare diseases.
